Energy security and climate change have become a crucial focal point in transatlantic relations in recent years. The enduring impacts of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, along with the conflict in the Middle East, have highlighted the urgent necessity of transitioning to sustainable energy systems. It is now evident that this transition must be matched with robust efforts to ensure global security and economic stability. Whether bolstering security of supply or deploying innovative clean energy technologies, what will be the role of transatlantic cooperation in navigating these global challenges?
In this context and following the outstanding experience of the first edition, WEC Italy – the Italian National Committee of the World Energy Council - WEC US – the United State Member Committee of the World Energy Council - and Globe Italy - National Association for Climate – organize the Second bilateral dialogue on opportunities and challenges for Italy-US cooperation on energy and circularity, that will be held in Washington D.C., on October 2024, at the Embassy of Italy,
The event aims to foster the dialogue between Italian industrial energy and circularity excellences and US institutional, think tank and industrial stakeholders and plumb opportunities for collaboration between the two Countries towards the energy transition
Steps and opportunities of an international pathway
WEC Italy is proud to organize the second edition of the bilateral US-Italy dialogue following the success of the First bilateral event, helded in Washington in October 2023.
The Washington meeting is part of a Euro-Atlantic dialogue initiative promoted by WEC Italy, together with its partners, to foster international cooperation on energy transition and highlight the role of the national energy industry, with its expertise and areas of excellence.
In 2024 we had the pleasure of meeting the Assistant Secretary of the U.S. Department of Energy, Brad Crabtree, and the American delegation at the US Embassy of Rome. Together with our national member Italgas, we organized a meeting with Annie Hills (Senior Advisor for Clean Energy and Innovation in the Office of the Special Envoy of the Presiden of the United States for Climate, John Kerry). Last April, the Italgas headquarters in Turin hosted a prep-meeting between WEC Italy's network and representatives of the US delegation attending the G7 Environment, Climate and Energy Planet Week. The Planet Week of the G7 Ministerial meeting provided the opportunity to collaborate with the Atlantic Council for the Summit on the Future of Energy, featuring prominent international guests, including Fatih Birol (IEA Executive Director) and David Turk (Deputy Secretary of the US Department of Energy).
This is a significant process of international dialogue, and we are pleased to involve WEC members and key energy stakeholders. Contact us for more information.
