The
World Energy Council – WEC - is the most important international multi-energy organisation in the world today. Founded in 1923 and based in London, the organisation is made up of more than 90 member countries which are represented by their
National Committees.
WEC is UN-accredited, non profit, non governmental, non commercial and non aligned.
In keeping with its mission “To promote the sustainable supply and use of energy for the greatest benefit of all people" WEC carries out studies, reports and research in the energy sector, the results of which are published and presented internationally. Each year the World Energy Council sets out its vision and expresses its recommendations through a Statement, which is issued on an energy-related topic of particular importance.
WEC also organises meetings, seminars and conferences on topics of great interest to the energy sector, works with international institutions and organisations and supports decision-makers and policy-makers across the globe.
WEC's work in research and information-sharing reaches its culmination at the three-yearly (World Energy Congress), the most important international energy event on the calendar.
