WEC Italian National Committee or
WEC Italy is a non-profit
multi-energy association based in Rome, set up under the patronage of the
Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the
the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Crafts in 1988.
The Association is a member and founder of the
World Energy Council (WEC) the most important international multi-energy organisation in the world today.
WEC Italy's members' network brings together industry, institutions and universities and represents different levels of the national energy sector: from research to production and from transformation to distribution and marketing of all energy sources, whether fossil fuels, nuclear power, or renewables. Due to these characteristics, the Association has taken on a role of super partes in the Italian energy sector.
WEC Italy promotes the World Energy Council’s mission and objectives and participates in its Global Studies Programme. It is also active in publishing the results of these studies in Italy.
It participates in furthering the national energy debate and acts to provide reliable and up-to-date information at all levels, not only for people working within the sector.
The Association also ensures a large Italian presence at WEC’s three-yearly (World Energy Congress) which is the most important international energy event on the calendar today.
WEC Italy hosted the 20th World Energy Congress (Rome 2007).
