Women Leading the Future of Energy: global voice, real impact

World Energy Women Dialogues: The World Energy Council’s New Initiative Kicks Off!

WEC Italy organized the first session of the World Energy Women Dialogues, the World Energy Council’s new international initiative dedicated to women leading the transformation of the global energy system. This is a global program that, through recurring events, connects female energy leaders from around the world, and this first event, promoted by WEC Italy, marks its official launch.

Angela Wilkinson, Secretary General and CEO of the World Energy Council, opened the proceedings, followed by remarks from Barbara Terenghi, EVP of Sustainability at Edison SpA and Chair of the WEC’s Strategic Communities Committee. The panel featured Claudia Breschi (Deputy Refinery Manager at SARPOM, IP – Italiana Petroli), Eng. Hope Chanda (Founder & CEO of Mimshach Engineering Africa), Dr. Cécile Barrere-Trica (Executive VP of Innovation & Economic Development at IFPEN), Agnieszka Okońska (VP of the Management Board at Polskie Sieci Elektroenergetyczne), and Martina Maggioni, Head of International Institutional Affairs at Italgas, who were moderated in the discussions by Eduarda Zoghbi, Founder of MPower Brazil.

The discussion explored how women in leadership positions in the energy, engineering, and finance sectors are making concrete contributions to the major transitions currently underway - from decarbonization to energy security - by bringing diverse perspectives from different geographic and industrial contexts.

The meeting was organized for members of the WEC Community.
